SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

It’s really important to me that Bamber Prints is as eco-friendly as possible. It’s at the front of my mind when I design new products and source materials.

I’m not perfect and I’m always looking for ways to improve, any suggestions are welcome! I really believe that every little helps and we can all do our part for the planet.

I have noted below some of the actions I have taken so far for my brand.

Keeping it Local

All my products have been designed, printed and packaged in the UK (by me!). All my current suppliers are based in the UK.

Paper

All my products and thank you notes are printed on 100% recycled white card (300gsm) which is made from post-consumer waste. It is not bleached, instead, the colours are matched from the waste materials (so clever!). This card can be fully recycled after use.

My greeting cards are sold with one 100% recycled kraft brown envelope, also made from post-consumer waste.

Pom Pom Prints

I spent a long time researching different types of yarn for my pom pom prints. It was really important to me that they were in keeping with my brand’s sustainability policy.

I decided to use 100% wool, my main reason being that wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. Ideally, I’d like to use 100% British wool but have found it hard to source the colours I’d like but will keep looking. I instead use a few different suppliers who sustainably produce and dye their wool.

To attach my pom poms to the prints I use hot glue from a glue gun. This is an area that I’m trying to research further and improve on, as currently, the glue isn’t very eco-friendly.

Packaging

No plastic packaging here! Orders are wrapped in 100% biodegradable and compostable cello bags. The bags will break down to CO2 and water and this will happen in either in-home or commercial composting or landfill.

I’m looking into packaging my cards ‘naked’ (no cello bag) but will first work through the cello bags I own.

I use stickers that are printed on 100% recycled waste paper and can be recycled after use.

My tissue paper is acid-free, biodegradable and recyclable after use.

My prints and cards are sent out in recyclable cardboard postage envelopes or small boxes. These can either be re-used or recycled.
